Cartoon Physics
Speaker(s): Rob Cook
Abstract: Physics plays a major role in the creation of animated films at Pixar Animation Studios. It is used in some obvious ways, such as simulating water, but also in many less obvious ways to help construct and manipulate the virtual 3D worlds of our films. Because the point is to help directors and artists tell stories, we have to adapt physics to work in cartoon worlds, worlds in which animators exaggerate for humor and to convey emotions.
