Abstract

The two-dimensional Poisson sigma model is a rich field theory connecting to many interesting topics in mathematical physics, deformation quantization in particular. In this talk I will introduce a three-dimensional holomorphic-topological variant constructed from the data of a Poisson vertex algebra as developed by V. Kac and collaborators. Specializing to familiar PVAs recovers a broad family of field theories, including Chern–Simons theory and (higher-spin) gravity. This framework is expected to illuminate the deformation quantization problem for Poisson vertex algebras.
