Abstract

We discuss a proposal for a localization principle directly in M-theory for a class of M2-brane backgrounds that captures the full perturbative expansion. Relative equivariant localization determines the supersymmetric action from fixed-point data, while a proposed equivariant one-loop complex captures quantum fluctuations. This leads to an M-theory derivation of Airy-function partition functions. We focus on ABJM theory, where the results agree with all available independent field-theory calculations, while extending to generic squashing and mass deformations where no field-theory answer is currently available. We also compute topologically twisted indices associated with rotating, magnetically charged AdS4black holes, including new one-loop contributions.
